To East Coburg Cricket Club Players,  Return to Training Update (October 21). 


 Following the Victorian Premier’s announcements on October 18, Sport and Recreation Victoria have provided more detail and clarifications for State Sporting Associations for the safe return to train/play.

     Metropolitan Melbourne

  • From 11:59 pm on 18 October 2020, metropolitan Melbourne’s Second Step towards COVID Normal now includes and specifically regarding exercise and recreation:
  • Community sport training and competition cannot occur.
  • Some outdoor activities can take place in outdoor sport and recreation facilities.

     What does this mean for East Coburg Cricket Club?


  • We are awaiting another update from Government on October 25.
  • NWMCA and VTCA are still advising a return to play on November 14, (NWMCA) and November 21 (VTCA).This will be reviewed post the Government update on Sunday.
  • If restrictions are eased the earliest, we could train could be next week as originally stated or more likely to be the Cup week, that would be Thursday November 5
  • So be ready, be flexible and stay tuned.

    For Noting and visibility: The chain of communication that takes place:

  • Stake Government & DHHS provides formal communications to Victoria.
  • Sport and Recreation Victoria (SRV) interprets restrictions for sport and provides formal communications for State Sporting Associations (SSA).
  • SSA’s interpret directions for code specific guidelines, which are sent to Clubs and Associations.
  • Moreland Council will confirm guidelines and directions with Moreland Clubs and Associations.
  • Clubs and Associations will need to adjust their COVID Safe Plan or Return to Train/Play Plans accordingly and communicate it to all relevant people.
